US Soccer is no longer offering a Youth Module Coach Certification. We will have to make a change to the IWSL Coach Certification requirement. Going forward, the requirement will be an "E" certification for all age groups, U-8 thru U-19.

Goal Safety:

When all soccer fields were all the same size, the favorite way to anchor the goals was to drive iron stakes into the ground and chain the goals to the stakes. Now, with the advent of different size goals and fields for younger players where several size fields and goals occupy the same space and artificial turf fields, that method of anchoring goals has become unrealistic in many cases. Sand bags have become the most realistic method in many cases. Clubs with the need for acceptable sand bags can find them plentifully by going to "Sandbags for soccer goals" on the Internet. Be sure to have the goals checked before each use of the field to assure they are adequately anchored.

IWSL GOAL AND FIELD SIZES FOR U-12 AND YOUNGER

Several years ago, the IWSL, along with the other Leagues in the Illinois Youth Soccer Association announced that the size of fields and goals for games U12 and younger must be smaller.  Fields for U-10 and younger must be 40/60 yd long and 35/55 yd wide and for U-11 and U-12 must be 70/85 yd long and 50/60 yd wide.  Goals for U10 and younger must be 6X18 while goals for U11 and U12 must be 7x21.  We knew some clubs, due to finances, cooperation from Park Districts, schools and other owners, would have difficulty meeting those requirements right away and we extended the time for compliance.  Now, most club have fields and goals which comply and, for our players to  realize the benefits of the smaller fields and goals, we must now set a dead line for all to comply.  In meetings with DOC's and Club Presidents, it has been decided that as of beginning of the Fall Season 2013, all fields and goals must be in compliance with the new field and goal sizes.  New clubs formed after this date will have a two year grace period to meet the stated requirements.

Teams which don't comply with the field and goal requirements by Fall of 2013 and new teams which don't comply within 2 years of joining the IWSL will forfeit all games played on those fields and will be subject to further League action including, but not limited to, fines.
